Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today\u00a0with H.E. Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Calibri Light',sans-serif\">The Secretary congratulated the President on his election and\u00a0commended him for his leadership\u00a0in guiding\u00a0the membership to address\u00a0the\u00a0plethora of\u00a0global challenges plaguing the world\u00a0today, including vaccine inequality and climate change. Mr.\u00a0Locsin\u00a0also\u00a0shared with the\u00a0President\u00a0his views and perspectives on\u00a0the developments related to\u00a0Our Common Agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Calibri Light',sans-serif\">The President thanked the Philippines for its continued support to the Presidency of Hope and the Office of PGA. He\u00a0underlined the necessity of\u00a0an effective multilateralism\u00a0through\u00a0working together\u00a0to fight COVID-19\u00a0and\u00a0climate change.\u00a0The President invited the Philippines to participate at\u00a0the\u00a0High-level Meeting on the theme\u00a0of\u00a0\u201cGalvanizing Momentum for Universal Vaccination\u201d\u00a0to be held on\u00a013 January 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Calibri Light',sans-serif\">Both sides also discussed other relevant topics\u00a0such as\u00a0sustainable development,\u00a0peacekeeping\u00a0and the Review Conference of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Calibri Light',sans-serif\">The meeting took place in the President\u2019s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the 76th Session of the General Assembly, H.E.
