9 December 2021<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Excellencies,<\/p>\n Ladies and gentlemen,<\/p>\n Thank you for the kind introduction.<\/p>\n I am honored to join you all today to celebrate the 75th<\/sup> Anniversary of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF.<\/p>\n Allow me to express my sincere appreciation to Ms. Henrietta H. Fore, Executive Director of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF, and to her entire team, here and globally, for the incredible work they have done.<\/p>\n Since its establishment in 1946, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF has gone far and beyond to reach the furthest and most vulnerable youth and children.<\/p>\n With a presence in more than 191 countries and territories, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF is helping hundreds of millions of children, supporting everything from education to health, from disaster relief to conflict prevention.<\/p>\n This is truly remarkable. I commend the leadership, the staff, the volunteers, and the partner governments for helping make Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF what it is today: a champion for children.<\/p>\n A champion of such scale and scope that the very name \u2018Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF\u2019 has become ubiquitous with support to children. Even where people struggle to understand the work of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ \u2013 they know Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF.<\/p>\n Ladies and gentlemen,<\/p>\n When polio and measles broke out, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF immunized the poorest and hardest to reach.<\/p>\n When cyclones and floods destroyed homes and displaced families and children, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF provided food and shelter.<\/p>\n Where there was violence and abuse against children, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF offered protection and reparation.<\/p>\n And today, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF, together with partners such as the COVAX Facility, are distributing vaccines for COVID-19 to low- and middle-income countries.<\/p>\n Ladies and gentlemen,<\/p>\n Reimagining the future for children will be a collective agenda.\u00a0 It implies the realization of sustainable development goals for children everywhere.<\/p>\n As we face a significant setback on the realization of the SDGs, this decade of recovery will be critical to our efforts to get the goals back on track.<\/p>\n Issues such as vaccine inequity, and support to economic recovery, must be addressed if we are to make meaningful progress.<\/p>\n With its extensive global reach, effective partnership with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF is crucial to reimagining a future for children.<\/p>\n I call upon governments, the private sector, and civil society to strengthen collaboration and support efforts that empower children and ensure the full protection of children\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n Let us join hands with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF through scaled up funding and pooled resources to secure a better and brighter future for children.<\/p>\n Once again thank for this opportunity and my best wishes to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF on the 75 years of service for humanity.<\/p>\n Thank you.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Remarks of H.E.
