OLYMPICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

The President of the General Assembly Abdulla Shahid is now enroute to Beijing for the Olympic Winter Games, at the invitation of the International Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n

Hs first related public appearance will be on Friday local time, ahead of the Opening Ceremony. He will participate in the Olympic torch relay, and receive the torch from the IOC President, Thomas Bach.<\/p>\n

On the General Assembly schedule\u2026<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the General Assembly held intergovernmental consultations on the political declaration in connection with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Conference on Ocean. A letter has been sent out to Member States that due to time restrictions, any delegation that was not able to present their full statements may do so in writing by this Friday.<\/p>\n
