The President of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, held a briefing this morning with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Network on Migration, for civil society and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s preparatory meeting, President Shahid noted millions of people have migrated or been displaced in the past two years because of political instability, severe economic hardships, and climate and weather-related disasters.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that restrictive migration-related policies have become more prominent across the globe, leading to possible systemic risks in the full realization of the SDGs and gains in human development.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s prep meeting is to solicit views from stakeholders for the International Migration Review Forum, and for the multi-stakeholder hearing that will be held in advance. All of that is set for mid-May.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>BILATERALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In terms of who else the President will meet with today. President Shahid has a bilateral with Jan Beagle, the Director-General of the International Development Law Organization or IDLO.<\/p>\n<p>The President also has two meetings with senior representatives of Member States.<\/p>\n<p>He will meet with Militiadis Varvitsiotis, Alternate Foreign Minister of Greece, and later with Dr. Lazarus McCathy Chakwera, President of Malawi<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵDRR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And President Shahid will today film the next in the series of his video podcast, \u201cIn Conversation With\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest episode is with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction,\u00a0Mami Mizutori, and experts from the Women in Disaster Risk Reduction.<\/p>\n<p>The latest video is expected be available on social media this Friday, 18 March, which is the anniversary of the Sendai Framework.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUESTIONS <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Spokesperson was asked if the General Assembly was asked to hold a briefing with Ukrainian President Zelensky.
