The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met with H.E. Ms. Inger Anderson the Executive Director of the United Nations Environmental Programme (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵEP).<\/i><\/p>\n
The Executive Director thanked the President for his leadership on issues related to the environment and climate change. The Executive Director also thanked the President for his remarks at the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations Environment Programme, and for convening a successful Preparatory meeting for the International Meeting Stockholm +50.<\/i><\/p>\n
The President commended the consistent leadership and hard work of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵEP and thanked Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵEP for the partnership and support in organizing the Preparatory Meeting. The President also highlighted his upcoming event entitled \u201cMoment for Nature\u201d as an opportunity to gather important environmental stakeholders to reflect on past environmental challenges and bottlenecks in order to most effectively move forward together. The Executive Director extended her support for the President\u2019s event.<\/i><\/p>\n
The meeting took place in the office of the President of General Assembly, at the United Nations Headquarters.<\/i><\/p>\n
