The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with<\/i>G20 Co-Sherpa, Ambassador Dian Triansyah Djani of Indonesia.\u00a0<\/i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
Ambassador Djani shared with the President, Indonesia\u2019s priorities for its G20 Presidency under the theme of \u201cRecover Together, Recover Stronger\u201d. He highlighted three priorities set under the theme, namely strengthening global health architecture, enhancing digital economy to ensure inclusive digital transformation, and promoting the transition toward new and sustainable energy.<\/i><\/p>\n
President Shahid congratulated Indonesia on assuming the Presidency of the G20 and welcomed its focus on inclusive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that these priorities aligned with several aspects of the priorities under the Presidency of Hope. President Shahid underlined the role of G20 in supporting the three pillars of recovery from COVID-19, namely global vaccination, financing global socio-economic resilience and reinvigorating multilateralism.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
They also discussed the impact of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine on the global economy and the efforts to strengthen collaboration between G20, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ system, international financial institutions and regional organizations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
The meeting took place in the President\u2019s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n

Ms. Inger Anderson the Executive Director of the United Nations Environmental Programme (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵEP).<\/i>\r\n\r\nThe Executive Director thanked the President for his leadership on issues related to the environment and climate change. The Executive Director also thanked the President for his remarks at the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations Environment Programme, and for convening a successful Preparatory meeting for the International Meeting Stockholm +50.<\/i>\r\n\r\nThe President commended the consistent leadership and hard work of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵEP and thanked Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵEP for the partnership and support in organizing the Preparatory Meeting. The President also highlighted his upcoming event entitled \u201cMoment for Nature\u201d as an opportunity to gather important environmental stakeholders to reflect on past environmental challenges and bottlenecks in order to most effectively move forward together.
