{"id":264637,"date":"2022-04-21T14:51:01","date_gmt":"2022-04-21T18:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/76\/?p=264637"},"modified":"2022-04-26T14:59:32","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T18:59:32","slug":"general-assembly-to-meet-on-adequate-financing-for-peacebuilding-in-high-level-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/76\/2022\/04\/21\/general-assembly-to-meet-on-adequate-financing-for-peacebuilding-in-high-level-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"General Assembly to meet on adequate financing for peacebuilding in high-level forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>MEDIA ADVISORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>New York\/Geneva, 21 April 2022<\/strong> \u2013 The President of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, will convene a one-day high-level meeting on Peacebuilding Financing, on Wednesday, 27 April 2022, at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n<p>The high-level meeting is being convened in accordance with the third review process of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Peacebuilding Architecture and its twin resolutions A\/RES\/75\/201 and S\/RES\/2558 (2020) on peacebuilding and sustaining peace. The resolutions note that peacebuilding financing remains a critical challenge, and therefore call for the high-level meeting to advance, explore and consider options for ensuring adequate, predictable and sustained financing for peacebuilding.<\/p>\n<p>Member States are expected to discuss various options to increase financing for peacebuilding, as outlined in the report of the Secretary-General on Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace (A\/76\/668\u2013S\/2022\/66). Those include allocating at least 20 per cent of Official Development Assistance to peacebuilding in conflict settings, and setting specific targets for the meaningful participation of women and youth in peace processes. The Secretary-General also proposed to appropriate $100 million in assessed contributions, where all Member States pay a share to his Peacebuilding Fund.<\/p>\n<p>President <strong>Abdulla Shahid<\/strong> and Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, <strong>Rosemary DiCarlo<\/strong>, will open the high-level meeting.<\/p>\n<p>In case the plenary on 27 April Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Peacebuilding Fund (PBF), established in 2006 as recommended in the 2005 World Summit Outcome (General Assembly resolution 60\/1), is an indispensable resource, through
