The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mrs. Mirela Kumbaro Furxhi, Minister of Tourism and Environment of the Republic of Albania.<\/p>\n

Minister Kumbaro pledged the continued support of Albania to the priorities identified by the President for the 76th<\/sup>\u00a0session of the General Assembly and the importance of highlighting sustainable tourism as part of the recovery from the pandemic. She also briefed the President on the initiatives taken by Albania under the leadership of Prime Minister Edi Rama\u00a0on gender issues and women empowerment.<\/p>\n On the Peace and Security front, the Albanian side briefed the President that \u201cwomen, peace and security\u201d would be a huge focus during the Albanian Presidency of the Security Council. A major emphasis would also be placed on women -led participation on all items on the Security Council’s Program of Work during their Presidency.<\/p>\n \n Both sides also discussed other relevant topics, such as youth involvement in multilateralism and climate change.<\/p>\n \n The meeting took place in the President\u2019s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n \n 3 May 2022<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E.
