Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E Mr. James Macharia, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing Urban Development &amp; Public Works of Kenya.<\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"rgb(33, 33, 33)\">\n<p data-ogsc=\"rgb(33, 33, 33)\">\n<p data-ogsc=\"rgb(33, 33, 33)\">The Cabinet Secretary thanked the President for his leadership on the New Urban Agenda and highlighted the importance of the upcoming High-Level Meeting on the New Urban Agenda for sustainable urbanization, recovery and rebuilding from Covid-19, particularly for African states and cities. The Cabinet Secretary noted that Kenya was one of the first countries to share their national report on implementing the New Urban Agenda, and he encouraged all countries to do so in order to accelerate global efforts.<\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"rgb(33, 33, 33)\">\n<p data-ogsc=\"rgb(33, 33, 33)\">The President commended Kenya\u2019s support to the United Nations system, particularly through hosting Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ-Habitat and Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵEP. He also expressed his gratitude for Kenya\u2019s contributions to the PGA\u2019s Advisory Committee on Sustainable Urbanization in preparation for the New Urban Agenda. He noted how Nairobi is one of the largest cities in Africa and therefore the implementation of the New Urban Agenda will be pivotal to leverage that growth in support of the sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"rgb(33, 33, 33)\">\n<p data-ogsc=\"rgb(33, 33, 33)\">The meeting took place in the President\u2019s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"rgb(33, 33, 33)\">\n<p data-ogsc=\"rgb(33, 33, 33)\">27 April 2022<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E.
