The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with members of the Coordination Committee of Special Procedures.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Members of the Coordination Committee briefed the President about their work and sought guidance on means to promote further cooperation with Member States and to contribute to the follow up of the “Our Common Agenda” report.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The President commended the role of special procedures in the promotion and protection of all human rights and highlighted the fruitful cooperation between OPGA and special procedures, including through the participation of special mandateholders in PGA\u2019s events.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Both sides also discussed issues related to gender equality, gender-based violence and the issue of intimidation and reprisals against those who cooperate with the United Nations in the field of human rights.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The meeting took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n
