The President of the 76th<\/sup>\u00a0Session of the General Assembly, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, met today with the President of the Republic of Comoros, His Excellency Azali Assoumani, on the sidelines of the Stockholm+50 International Meeting.<\/p>\n

President Shahid and President Assoumani discussed the climate challenges specifically faced by vulnerable Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and of the existential threat SIDS confront if those challenges are not resolved.<\/p>\n

They also spoke on the importance of the Stockholm+50 International Meeting, for offering an opportunity to renew and strengthen global resolve to tackle the triple planetary crises confronting our planet, in the form of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. President Shahid reiterated that protecting our planet remains one of the chief priorities of his presidency.<\/p>\n

The meeting occurred in Stockholm, Sweden.<\/p>\n
