Mr. Abdulla Shahid met with Mr. Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross.<span class=\"x_x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">President Shahid highlighted the importance of the<span class=\"x_x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>humanitarian mission of ICRC in protecting the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance as well as ICRC\u2019s role and response during the COVID-19 pandemic and its efforts across the world to ensure unconditional access to vaccines.<span class=\"x_x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">The President of the ICRC briefed the PGA on the various activities carried out by ICRC and congratulated President Shahid on the work done so far during the seventy-sixth session.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides exchanged views on the cooperation between the United Nations and ICRC, vaccine equity, PGA\u2019s upcoming events and the importance of including young people in multilateralism, including PGA\u2019s Fellowship for HOPE.<span class=\"x_x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The meeting took place in the ICRC Headquarters in Geneva.<span class=\"x_x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>15 June 2022<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0President of the 76th\u00a0session of the General Assembly, H.E.
