Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Ant\u00f3nio Costa, the Prime Minister of Portugal, on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">The President of the General Assembly\u00a0thanked Prime Minister Costa\u00a0for Portugal\u2019s\u00a0gracious\u00a0hospitality and\u00a0congratulated the Portuguese Government on the outstanding work done to host an event of such\u00a0high\u00a0importance as the 2022 Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Ocean Conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">President Shahid\u00a0commented on Portugal\u2019s impressive record on multilateralism and\u00a0pointed out that\u00a0the consensus reached on the political declaration\u00a0would allow the international community to speak in one voice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">Prime Minister\u00a0Costa\u00a0thanked the President of the General Assembly for his presence in the Conference and underscored\u00a0that it was an\u00a0honour\u00a0to host\u00a0the event considering\u00a0the Portuguese\u00a0people\u2019s connection to the ocean.\u00a0Prime Minister\u00a0Costa\u00a0also\u00a0commended\u00a0President Shahid\u00a0for\u00a0his leadership role\u00a0in the Our Common Agenda\u00a0(OCA) consultative process, highlighting his confidence that the\u00a0OCA\u00a0process would lead to a stronger United Nations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">The meeting took place in the\u00a0office\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0President\u00a0of the General Assembly\u00a0at the Ocean Conference main venue in Lisbon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">27 June 2022<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E.
