Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr.\u00a0Ulisses\u00a0Correia e Silva,\u00a0Prime Minister of Cabo Verde, on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">The President of the General Assembly\u00a0expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Correia e Silva for\u00a0attending the Ocean Conference\u00a0and\u00a0noted\u00a0the importance of the event for\u00a0big-ocean states like Cabo Verde and the Maldives.\u00a0President Shahid also\u00a0affirmed\u00a0his confidence\u00a0on\u00a0the success of the Ocean Conference\u00a0and noted\u00a0that\u00a0the event would\u00a0add\u00a0a\u00a0much-needed new chapter of global ocean action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">Prime Minister\u00a0Correia e Silva\u00a0thanked the President of the General Assembly for providing a strong voice in support of Small Island Developing States\u00a0(SIDS)\u00a0and\u00a0highlighted Cabo Verde\u2019s environmental priorities.\u00a0Furthermore, the Prime Minister\u00a0hoped that the planned Multidimensional\u00a0Vulnerability Index (MVI)\u00a0would allow for the recognition of the specificities of SIDS\u00a0in their quest for sustainable development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">The meeting took place in the\u00a0office\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0President\u00a0of the General Assembly\u00a0at the Ocean Conference main venue in Lisbon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">27 June 2022<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E.
