Mr.\u00a0Marcelo\u00a0Rebelo\u00a0de Sousa,\u00a0President of Portugal, on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">President\u00a0Rebelo\u00a0de Sousa\u00a0thanked\u00a0the President of the General Assembly for his presence in Lisbon and\u00a0for the accomplishments of his Presidency of Hope.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">President\u00a0Rebelo\u00a0de Sousa\u00a0also\u00a0reiterated Portugal\u2019s support to the\u00a0priorities\u00a0of\u00a0President Shahid\u2019s mandate\u00a0and\u00a0noted that the war in Ukraine had made his\u00a0mission during the 76<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: 5.5pt;color: #201f1e\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0session even more important.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">The President of the General Assembly thanked President\u00a0Rebelo\u00a0de Sousa for the warm welcome in Lisbon and commended Portugal\u2019s dedicated work in the United Nations.\u00a0With reference to the historical significance of the ocean both for Portugal and for the Maldives, President Shahid congratulated President\u00a0Rebelo\u00a0de Sousa on the outstanding work done to host the Conference\u00a0and expressed every confidence that the political declaration to be adopted at the end of the event\u00a0would\u00a0pave the way for\u00a0a\u00a0healthier\u00a0and bluer\u00a0future for\u00a0the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">The meeting took place in the\u00a0office\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0President\u00a0of\u00a0Portugal at\u00a0the Ocean Conference main venue in Lisbon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">27 June 2022<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E.
