Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr.\u00a0Iv\u00e1n Duque M\u00e1rquez, President of\u00a0Colombia, on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The President of the General Assembly\u00a0complimented\u00a0President Duque\u00a0M\u00e1rquez\u00a0for his leadership\u00a0on environmental issues and especially for being a strong advocate for the\u00a0restoration of the health of the ocean.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>President Duque M\u00e1rquez\u00a0briefed the President of the General Assembly on some of Colombia\u2019s environmental priorities. He\u00a0reiterated Colombia\u2019s commitment to the ocean agenda\u00a0and\u00a0underscored the country\u2019s\u00a0initiatives in\u00a0restoring coral reefs and protection of mangroves.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The meeting took place in the\u00a0office\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0President\u00a0of the General Assembly\u00a0at the Ocean Conference main venue in Lisbon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>27 June 2022<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E.
