Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today H.E. Wee Ka Siong, Minister of Transport of Malaysia, on the sidelines of the High-Level Meeting on Improving Global Road Safety.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The President commended Minister Wee Ka Siong for Malaysia\u2019s support to the work of the United Nations in particular his personal participation in the multi-holder panel discussion under the theme \u201c<i>Incorporating road safety into sustainable development: political will and whole-of-government approach<\/i>\u201d on 1 July 2022. The President thanked the Minister for the valuable contributions of the Malaysian delegation in the negotiations on the political declaration for this high-level meeting. The President\u00a0also praised\u00a0Malaysia\u2019s efforts in enhancing road safety and for implementing the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Minister Wee Ka Siong reiterated Malaysia\u2019s firm commitment to road safety as well as to multilateralism and reaffirmed the country\u2019s continued support for the work of the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The meeting took place at the President\u2019s Office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>30 June 2022<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E.
