The President of the 76th\u00a0session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met\u00a0with the Deputy of the Congress, Mr. Carlos L\u00f3pez and the congressmen Mr. Efra\u00edn Menendez and Marvin Alvarado\u00a0on 14 July 2022.<\/p>\n

The President\u00a0highlighted the\u00a0key role of parliamentarians to translate global agendas into national laws and policies, which is instrumental, for\u00a0the implementation of\u00a0the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. He also outlined his priorities for the 76th session that includes gender equality.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Representatives of the Congress\u00a0briefed\u00a0the President on the various legislations approved during the pandemic in support of the economy and the health system.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Mr. Mario Adolfo\u00a0B\u00facaro\u00a0Flores, and the Resident Coordinator of the U.N. in Guatemala, Mr. Jose Miguel Barreto, also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n
