The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid met with Mr. Rafael Rodriguez Pellecer, Minister of Labor and Social Welfare on 14 July 2022.<\/p>\n

The President congratulated the Minister on the governments efforts to eradicate child labor and highlighted the importance of educating the youth.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Minister shared the challenges that Guatemalan migrants faced and the need to foster cooperation and dialogue at the international level to expand pathways for labor migration.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Both sides shared their efforts to allow, set up, and expand lactation rooms in the United Nations and the Ministry, which are essential spaces supporting women\u00b4s labor force participation.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Mr. Mario Adolfo\u00a0B\u00facaro\u00a0Flores, and the Resident Coordinator of the U.N. in Guatemala, Mr. Jose Miguel Barreto, also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n

The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guatemala City.<\/p>\n
