Mr. Abdulla Shahid met today with\u00a0<a>Mr. Amandeep Singh Gill, the Secretary General\u2019s Envoy on Technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Envoy on Technology thanked President Shahid for his strong leadership throughout the process of implementing the recommendations in the Secretary General\u2019s \u201cOur common Agenda\u201d report, in particular by hosting the five thematic consultations with Member States earlier this year. He briefed the President on his agenda, which would consist of three main areas: (i) to deliver on the proposed Global Digital Compact, (ii) enabling progress on the SDG\u2019s through technology, and (iii) to facilitate internal coordination and coherence within the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ system workstreams.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>President Shahid and Mr. Gill agreed on the importance to educate young people in digital technologies, including in research and science, as a power driver of sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The meeting took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>3 August 2022<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the 76th\u00a0session of the General Assembly H.E.
