The President of the 76th<\/sup>\u00a0session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with\u00a0H.E. Mr. Maulen Ashimbayev, the Chairperson of the Senate of Kazakhstan Parliament.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

President Shahid stressed the crucial role of Parliaments in the work of multilateralism. He underlined his work in the priority areas of covid-19 recovery, responding to the needs of the Planet, and respecting the rights of all by increasing gender parity and youth empowerment.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

H.E. Mr. Maulen Ashimbayev expressed his support for the Presidency of Hope and reaffirmed Kazakhstan\u2019s commitment to multilateralism and to work closely with the United Nations. He also briefed President Shahid about the key reforms and initiatives undertaken by Kazakhstan over the last few years.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

President Shahid commended the Government of Kazakhstan for undertaking the 2022 constitutional reforms, as well as it\u2019s pledge to reach carbon neutrality by 2060.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The meeting took place in the Senate building, in Nursultan.<\/p>\n
