Starting with the General Assembly…
Member States adopted the programme of work for the 77th session.
This lists the topics that will be discussed throughout the year.
Member States then began to take action on a draft decision issued as document A/77/L.1, and amendment A/77/L.2
[After the briefing, Member States held recorded votes on the documents.
The result of the vote on A/77/L.1 was 101 in favour, 7 against and 19 absentions.
The result of the vote on A/77/L.2 was 23 in favour, 67 against and 27 abstentions.]
PEACE BELL
This morning, the President of the General Assembly Csaba?K?r?si, rang the Peace Bell.
This is an annual tradition ahead of International Peace Day, marked annually on 21 September.
Before ringing the Bell, President K?r?si spoke on the theme of “End racism. Build peace.”
He noted that we stand here today because of those who came before us.
These hard-won gains are worthy of remembrance, he said.
May the ringing of this bell stand for the freedom and equality of everyone, everywhere.

EDUCATION
Later this morning, President K?r?si participated in the Transforming Education Summit. Today is Youth-led mobilization day. There are three days of event culminating in the Summit on Monday.
President K?r?si took part with Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed in a fireside chat.
Youth leader Kenisha Arora moderated.
President K?r?si highlighted the importance of youth engagement and education.
When talking about climate change, he gave the examples 蘑菇视频FCCC and the Paris Agreement, saying they all mention the importance of teaching about climate change.
But it’s the young people who need to teach Governments how to galvanize momentum.
The President told youth participants, you have a seat in the table. You don’t have to ask.? Be brave, be bold, be provocative. And pull up a chair.
QUESTIONS
