The President of the General Assembly, Csaba K?r?si is taking part today in Water Day at COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
One of the President’s first observations as he sat in on the opening plenary and walked around the pavilions was that everyone – from Governments to civil society and private sector – were interested in climate solutions.
In the afternoon, President K?r?si spoke at a plenary session about the 蘑菇视频 2023 Water Conference.
He said that water is an integral part of the water agenda.
He outlined some of the key messages from the October 24 and 25 preparatory events ahead of the 蘑菇视频 2023 Water Conference, and pointed to some of the gamechangers that were brainstormed during those events.
That includes the creation of a shared global water information database system.
The President said this is urgently needed for sustainable water management. As an example, he said that right now it difficult to know how much drinking water there is right now in the world.
He noted that for every policy decision and implementation, we need to provide a scientific backup.

COP27 BILATERALS
Before the plenary, President K?r?si met with Sameh Shoukry, the COP27 President and Egyptian Foreign Minister. The discussions touched on the many issues related to water which the President then discussed in his remarks.
Also today, President K?r?si met with Dr. Gunhild Stordalen, who is the Executive Chair of EAT, which is?global, non-profit startup dedicated to transforming the food system?through system, according to its website. The discussion was, obviously, about sustainable food production.
President K?r?si also met today with?Yossi Matias, as computer scientist, entrepreneur and Google executive. This was in the context of data and what more could be done to prevent crises.

COP27 TUESDAY
On Tuesday, the President will address the continued open plenary for COP27, and in the evening, speak to the Climate and Clear Air Ministerial Coalition.
He has a long list of bilaterals.

In New York, the General Assembly reopened the 11th?Emergency Special Session.
Following a debate, Member States adopted draft resolution A/ES-11/L.6 entitled “remedy and reparation for aggression against Ukraine”.
The result of the vote, which took place shortly after 1PM ET, was 94 Member States voted in favor; 14 against; 73 abstentions.
There were 57 co-sponsors to the resolution.
Ambassador Brian Wallace, the Permanent Representative of Jamaica, and a General Assembly Vice-President, presided over the morning session.
The explanations of vote will be held in the 3pm session today.
