PEACEKEEPERS DAY

Today is the International Day of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Peacekeepers.

President Csaba K?r?si would like to extend his congratulations to Captain Cecilia Erzuah, the Ghanaian peacekeeper serving with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Interim Security Force in Abyei or Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµISFA¡­ and the latest recipience of the United Nations Gender Advocate of the Year Award.

The President also honours today all the women and men who have served as peacekeepers ¨C be it military, police or civilians, as the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ commemorates 75 years of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Peacekeeping.

And we particularly honour those who died in the line of duty. Some 103 women and men added to that list in 2022.

The President was upstairs just a short time ago and paid homage to those killed at the commemoration there.

PRESIDENT¡¯S SCHEDULE

In terms of his schedule today¡­

President Csaba K?r?si is today meeting with the President of ECOSOC, Ambassador Lachezara Stoeva.

This is their monthly coordination meeting to discuss the work between the two bodies.

Also today, President K?r?si is meeting with the two co-facilitators who are leading the effort to prepare the Summit of the Future. This is one of the 16 negotiation processes of the General Assembly.

The co-facilitators are the Permanent Representative of Namibia, Ambassador Neville Gertze and the Permanent Representative of Germany, Ambassador Antje Leendertse.

Also today, the President will meet with Amabssador Jamal F Alrowaiei, the Permanent Representative of Bahrain. This is on the followup to his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain in April.

Earlier today, the President met virtually with Ms. Daria Robinson, Executive Director of the Solution Accelerator& Deputy CEO of the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator. This is obviously in the context of bringing science to policy makers.
