COP27<\/strong><\/p>\n

I wanted to start with a travel announcement.<\/p>\n

President Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si will travel to Egypt this weekend for 27th Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Climate Change Conference of the Parties, otherwise known as COP27.<\/p>\n

On Monday, 14 November, he will give remarks at the opening of the Water Day conference.<\/p>\n

As you know, this is the first COP where water is officially on the agenda.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, 15 November, President K\u0151r\u00f6si will participate in ministerial-level meetings related to energy.<\/p>\n

We expect that the President will have a number of bilaterals with national officials, as well as meetings with representatives of civil society, women and youth.<\/p>\n

IAEA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Turning to the General Assembly.<\/p>\n

Member States this morning debated the latest report of the International Atomic Energy Agency \u2013 the IAEA.<\/p>\n

President K\u0151r\u00f6si said the international events of this past year have had a substantial impact on the IAEA\u2019s work.<\/p>\n

He noted that the world is faced with risks of nuclear proliferation and nuclear catastrophe not seen in decades.<\/p>\n

The President thanked Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi and all IAEA experts who have risked their lives in the name of nuclear stability and security.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the IAEA Mission in Zaporizhzhia, the President said quote \u201cwe simply cannot allow nuclear safety in Ukraine and beyond to be jeopardized\u201d.<\/p>\n

The President also spoke about the importance of cooperation on the Korean Peninsula.<\/p>\n

As well the role of the IAEA in establishing a possible nuclear weapons free zone in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

The IAEA debate is expected to continue in the afternoon session.<\/p>\n

Action on a draft resolution entitled \u201cReport of the International Atomic Energy Agency\u201d is expected during that session, which will start at 3PM Et.<\/p>\n

G4<\/strong><\/p>\n

President K\u0151r\u00f6si just met with the representatives of the G4 Group \u2013 Brazil, Germany, India and Japan.<\/p>\n

The President and the Ambassadors discussed Security Council reform, ahead of the plenary meeting on this this topic, which is set for Thursday of next week, 17 November.<\/p>\n

IGN<\/strong><\/p>\n

Related, President K\u0151r\u00f6si will meet later today with the Intergovernmental Negotiations Co-Chairs \u2013 who are chairing the Member State-led effort to reform the Security Council.<\/p>\n

Those chairs are Ambassador Michal Mlynar, the Permanent Representative of Slovakia, and Ambassador Tareq Albanai, the Permanent Representative of Kuwait.<\/p>\n

CSO TOWNHALL REGISTRATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

I wanted to let you know that President K\u0151r\u00f6si will hold a civil society townhall on Friday, 2 December, here at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Headquarters.<\/p>\n

Civil Society Organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC, formally associated with the Department of Global Communications, and other stakeholders are invited to attend.<\/p>\n

Parties interested in delivering a keynote statement should apply before Monday, 14 November.<\/p>\n
