My personal thoughts &amp; prayers are with those whose lives are forever changed. The General Assembly is trying to reduce disaster risk &amp; save lives, and I&#8217;ve named Indonesia and Australia to lead that effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>GENERAL ASSEMBLY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The General Assembly is today discussing cooperation between the United Nations and regional and other organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The second item on the agenda is the appointment of members of the Independent Audit Advisory Committee, as recommended in the report of the Fifth Committee.<\/p>\n<p>President K\u0151r\u00f6si is presiding over today\u2019s discussions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>BILATERALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Later today, the President will meet with Vice-Minister Kitty van der Heijden, who is the Director-General of International Cooperation at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>COP27<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Late Saturday night, almost Sunday morning the Climate Change Conference COP27 officially closed in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.<\/p>\n<p>President K\u0151r\u00f6si put out a statement welcoming the conclusions.<\/p>\n<p>He congratulated all negotiators for working tirelessly towards a mutual \u201cyes\u201d position.<\/p>\n<p>He commended COP President Sameh Shoukry, as well as Simon Stiell and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and their teams, for their efforts to put into action this year\u2019s slogan of \u201ctogether for implementation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The President said that he would work with Member States to build on the results of Sharm al-Sheikh.<\/p>\n<p>The President reiterated the message that he has been sharing since taking office \u2013 an integrated climate-water-food policy is the only way to secure a sustainable future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>TOMORROW\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, the President of the United Nations General Assembly and the New York City Mayor\u2019s Office will meet with domestic violence survivors and visit the Manhattan Family Justice Center, one of five borough-based service centers providing free and confidential social services including mental health counseling, civil legal, and criminal justice assistance for survivors and their children.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, President K\u0151r\u00f6si and Commissioners Cecile Noel and Edward Mermelstein, will also meet with NGOs at the Manhattan Family Justice Center to better understand the local services offered to survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.<\/p>\n<p>This visit is aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 5 (gender equality), 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions) and 17 (partnerships for the goals).<\/p>\n<p>What you can expect from the visit is a joint press release that will be put out after.
