Asking officials to only stand in solidarity, but to\u00a0 move so \u2013 act.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to all to use the leverage of their governments to seek compromise, direct dialogue and good-faith negotiations in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>Quote \u201cour aim is to have a Middle East free of conflict, and able to fully use the enormous potentials of its peoples.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s remarks, President K\u0151r\u00f6si also drew attention to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA\u2019s funding gap, which he said is more than $600 million.<\/p>\n<p>At a time when the political will to find a long-term solution seems low,\u00a0 he said, let us ensure at least the sufficient and reliable multi-year funding of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA to enable it to perform its tasks.<\/p>\n<p>The President\u2019s full remarks are in your inbox and online: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/77\/2022\/11\/29\/remarks-to-the-special-meeting-in-observance-of-the-international-day-of-solidarity-with-the-palestinian-people\/\">https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/77\/2022\/11\/29\/remarks-to-the-special-meeting-in-observance-of-the-international-day-of-solidarity-with-the-palestinian-people\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>TOMORROW<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And a reminder that the General Assembly tomorrow will hold a plenary meeting on the question of Palestine and the situation in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>The President will have remarks in English, Arabic, French and Russian.<\/p>\n<p>Action is expected on draft resolutions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATER REPORT <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Turning to sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>The World Meteorological Organization today put out the first State of Global Water Resources report.<\/p>\n<p>President K\u0151r\u00f6si welcomed the publication of the report.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, he said that knowing how much water is available \u2013 where and when \u2013 is key to water security, as well as a catalyzer of cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>He said the report confirms that the conception and sustainable implementation of resilient food and energy systems is possible based on informed scientific analysis.<\/p>\n<p>This is a topic that you\u2019ve heard the President speak a lot about, particularly at COP \u2013 the connection between climate change, water and food.<\/p>\n<p>The President\u2019s full statement on today\u2019s WMO report, was shared overnight under embargo, and it\u2019s also available online: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/77\/2022\/11\/29\/statement-at-the-launch-of-wmos-state-of-global-water-resources-report\/\">https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/77\/2022\/11\/29\/statement-at-the-launch-of-wmos-state-of-global-water-resources-report\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>CIRCLE OF WOMEN AMBASSADORS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Right now, President K\u0151r\u00f6si is meeting with Permanent Representatives who are part of the Circle of Women Ambassadors.<\/p>\n<p>The President has been committed to promoting gender equality. He is an International Gender Champion.<\/p>\n<p>He has re-established the Advisory Board on Gender Equality.<\/p>\n<p>And through this body, he is working to ensure that all staff of Permanent Missions have access to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ training courses on gender equality and on the prevention of sexual harassment.<\/p>\n<p>The President also convened the Platform of Women Leaders at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵGA.<\/p>\n<p>And just a few days ago, he visited the Manhattan Family Justice Center \u2013 thanks to our great cooperation with New York City officials.<\/p>\n<p>That said, the President will likely today point out that it\u2019s expected to take 132 years to reach gender parity.<\/p>\n<p>And even in our Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ home, only 1 of the 6 Chairs of the General Assembly Main Committees is a woman.<\/p>\n<p>Three Permanent Representatives are women among the 16 elected Vice-Presidents.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>OTHER MEETINGS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The President will have an opportunity to meet with more of the Ambassadors today.<\/p>\n<p>He has a bilateral with Ambassador Egriselda L\u00f3pez, the Permanent Representative of El Salvador and Ambassador Mitchell Fifield, the Permanent Representative of Australia, in their capacity as the co-chairs of the revilations of the work of the General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUESTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There were no questions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NOON BRIEFING HIGHLIGHTS Spokesperson for General Assembly President Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si United Nations Headquarters, New York Tuesday, 29 November 2022 &nbsp;
