Of those applications, 57 per cent were from female candidates.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Geographically, 18 nominations were received from African States, 12 from Asia-Pacific States, one from an Eastern European State, and 11 from the Latin American and Caribbean States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p>The independent panel made its decision based on agreed-upon criteria, balancing gender and regional representation. Preference was given to young diplomats and civil servants from underrepresented countries, particularly from the least developed countries, the landlocked developing countries and small island developing states.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The PGA Fellowship Programme, developed in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵITAR), will allow the Fellows to gain knowledge and understanding of multilateralism, the General Assembly and its organs, and the United Nations system, through full-time placement in the Office and training provided by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵITAR.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The Programme will commence in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" aria-hidden=\"true\">[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New York, 9 January 2023\u00a0\u2013 The President of the 77th\u00a0session of the General Assembly, Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si, has announced the six young professionals from Africa, the Asia-Pacific area, and Latin America [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":361,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"on","_et_pb_old_content":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">9 November 2022 -\u00a0President Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si will participate in the 27th Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Climate Change\u00a0Conference of the Parties, otherwise known as COP27, underway in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">President K\u0151r\u00f6si will give remarks at the opening conference for Water Day, on Monday, 14 November. This COP, under the lead of the Egyptian Presidency, is the first COP to include water on the official agenda.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Water Day will provide opportunities to raise awareness on the strong interplay between water and climate resilience and the importance of placing water at the heart of climate action.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">On Tuesday, 15 November,\u00a0President K\u0151r\u00f6si will participate in ministerial meetings related to energy, which is one of the themes of the day.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">While in Sharm el-Sheikh, President K\u0151r\u00f6si is expected to meet with COP27 President and Egyptian Foreign Minister, Mr. Sameh Shoukry.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">He will also hold meetings with other national officials, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ leaders, as well as representatives of civil society, women and youth.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">President K\u0151r\u00f6si will be back in New York on Wednesday, 16 November.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The President will travel with two OPGA colleagues. The travel costs are funded by the OPGA Trust Fund. Travel expenses for a third colleague, who is seconded from the World Meteorological Organization, are paid for by that Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ agency.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" dir=\"RTL\"><span
