{"id":249841,"date":"2023-01-30T13:16:57","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T18:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/77\/?p=249841"},"modified":"2023-01-30T13:17:21","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T18:17:21","slug":"noon-briefing-highlights-30-january-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/77\/2023\/01\/30\/noon-briefing-highlights-30-january-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Noon briefing highlights &#8211; 30 January 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>NOON BRIEFING HIGHLIGHTS <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Spokesperson for General Assembly President Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si<br \/>\nUnited Nations Headquarters, New York<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Monday, 30 January 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PAKISTAN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let me start with Pakistan\u2026<\/p>\n<p>President Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si strongly condemns the suicide attack in Peshawar, Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>Targeting people who are praying is a truly horrid and cowardly attack.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>INDIA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Turning to the President\u2019s visit to India\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The President of the General Assembly, Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si today met Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>They discussed the importance of conserving and optimizing global water resources.<\/p>\n<p>The President said that he appreciated the Prime Minister\u2019s focused views on identifying simple, scalable and sustainable solutions that can transform societies.<\/p>\n<p>President Korosi also met today with the External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar.<\/p>\n<p>They discussed topics of mutual concern, including the water in Ukraine, water management, and the G20.<\/p>\n<p>The President did speak today with the G20 Sherpa, Mr. Amitabh Kant and his team.<\/p>\n<p>They had met before, in New York, so was this a continuation of overlapping topics with the work of the General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>INDIAN COÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵCIL OF WORLD AFFIARS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among other activities today, the President gave a public lecture at the Indian Council of World Affairs, the leading think tank.<\/p>\n<p>He spoke about the Sustainable Development Goals, urging the audience to actively engage to help get the SDGs back on track.<\/p>\n<p>The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Water Conference will take place in March, as you know.
