I\u2019ll start with the Human Rights Council election.<\/p>\n

There have been a couple of questions on whether that will take place as scheduled.<\/p>\n

Yes, the elections will be held on Tuesday, 11 October at 10AM.<\/p>\n

There are 14 vacant seats and 17 candidates.<\/p>\n

The two groups that are contested are the Asia-Pacific States and the Latin American and Caribbean States.<\/p>\n

BILATERALS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Turning to President K\u0151r\u00f6si\u2019s schedule today.<\/p>\n

He has a number of bilaterals.<\/p>\n

Those include with Minister V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs of India.<\/p>\n

President K\u0151r\u00f6si will meet today in a joint meeting with Ambassador Anna Karin Enestr\u00f6m, the Permanent Representative of Sweden, and Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed Al-Thani, the Permanent Representative of Qatar. This is to discuss topics related to Our Common Agenda.<\/p>\n

THAILAND<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

And you will have seen that President K\u0151r\u00f6si expressed his condolences to the people and Government of Thailand, after the attack on a nursery school.<\/p>\n

He said he was extremely saddened to hear of the news.<\/p>\n

The Spokesperson was asked if President K\u0151r\u00f6si had seen the letter purportedly sent to Member States requesting a secret ballot during next week\u2019s Emergency Special Session. The Spokesperson said that the letter was not sent to the President\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

The Spokesperson was asked if the President obtained any guidance from OLA on the possibility of a secret ballot and how that would work. The Spokesperson was also asked off-camera about the possibility of OLA doing a background briefing on the issues of secret ballot.<\/p>\n
