22 February 2023<\/strong> \u2013 The President of the 77th<\/sup> session of the United Nations General Assembly, Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si, will make an official visit to Geneva, Switzerland, from 26 February to 1 March, to address the Human Rights Council and to strengthen collaboration between the work of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly and Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ organizations in Geneva.<\/p>\n

Mr. K\u0151r\u00f6si will address the opening of the 52nd<\/sup> session of the Human Rights Council, on 27 February, alongside the President of the Human Rights Council, V\u00e1clav B\u00e1lek and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker T\u00fcrk. During his address, Mr. K\u0151r\u00f6si is expected to urge Member States to renew their commitments to the promotion and protection of human rights as a critical step in managing interlinked and complex crises.<\/p>\n

The working visit will include meetings with the Foreign Minister of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis; Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Office in Geneva (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOG); and senior representatives of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ agencies, funds and programmes located in Geneva.<\/p>\n

Given the President\u2019s ongoing effort to include a wide range of voices in the work of the General Assembly, Mr. K\u0151r\u00f6si will meet with the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) and other civil society organizations based in Geneva.<\/p>\n

He will also interact with academics and students, and lecture on \u201cCrisis Management and Transformation for the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ we need\u201d at an event hosted by the Geneva Diplomatic Club, Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva and the Forum Suisse de Politique Internationale.<\/p>\n

On 28 February, President K\u0151r\u00f6si will brief the press at 15h15 CET in the Palais on the upcoming Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Water Conference, which will be held in New York from 22 to 24 March 2023.<\/p>\n

The President will be accompanied by a delegation of five staff members including Fernando Andres Marani, the Deputy Chef de Cabinet, and Johannes Cullman, the PGA\u2019s Chief Scientific Adviser.<\/p>\n

Costs are covered by the OPGA Trust Fund.<\/p>\n

Mr. K\u0151r\u00f6si ouvrira la 52\u00e8me<\/sup> session du Conseil des Droits de l\u2019Homme le 27 f\u00e9vrier 2023, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s du Pr\u00e9sident du Conseil des Droits de l\u2019Homme, Mr. V\u00e1clav B\u00e1lek, et le Haut-Commissaire des Nations Unies aux droits de l\u2019Homme, Mr. Volker T\u00fcrk. Lors de son discours, il est pr\u00e9vu que Mr. K\u0151r\u00f6si pousse les \u00c9tats Membres \u00e0 renouveler leurs engagements envers la protection et la promotion des droits de l\u2019Homme, comme une \u00e9tape critique de la gestion de crises interreli\u00e9es et complexes.<\/p>\n

Cette visite inclura une rencontre avec le ministre des Affaires Etrang\u00e8res de la Conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration Suisse, Mr. Ignazio Cassis, avec Mme. Tatiana Valovaya, Directrice-G\u00e9n\u00e9rale d\u2019ONU \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve (ONUG), ainsi que de personnel haut-grad\u00e9 d\u2019Agences, fonds et programmes de l\u2019ONU bas\u00e9s \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve.<\/p>\n

\u00c9tant donn\u00e9 les efforts du Pr\u00e9sident pour inclure un arsenal de voix dans le travail de l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e G\u00e9n\u00e9rale, Mr. K\u0151r\u00f6si rencontrera la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration de la Croix-Rouge (FIRC) et d\u2019autres soci\u00e9t\u00e9s civiles bas\u00e9es \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve.<\/p>\n
