CSW<\/strong><\/p>\n

The President of the General Assembly, Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si today addressed the opening of the Commission on the Status of Women.<\/p>\n

He spoke about the needs to include women and girls in digital IT, computing, physics, mathematics and engineering\u2026 adding that new technologies could help equalize the genders, if used well.<\/p>\n

He also spoke about the need to combat stereotypes, and create apps that protect women and girls from violence.<\/p>\n

Quote \u201cthe advanced AI applications that will power our economies tomorrow can be designed in ways that rule out gender discrimination today.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President said that he stands with the Commission on the Status of Women today in championing a gender equitable transformation.<\/p>\n

He vowed to continue working with his Advisory Board on Gender Equality.<\/p>\n

He also spoke about the role of science, encouraging the Commission to ensure that gender equality policies are anchored in scientific evidence.<\/p>\n

Saying that such an approach could foster more productive discussions on issues viewed as \u201ccontentious\u201d or divisive.<\/p>\n

The President delivered the remarks via video message as he is still enroute from Doha.<\/p>\n

He is scheduled to land this afternoon and be in the office later today.<\/p>\n

PGA EVENT AT CSW<\/strong><\/p>\n

I wanted to highlight an event that the President has organized amid the CSW.<\/p>\n

This will be a conversation on \u201cthe role of technology in addressing violence against women and girls\u201d. The event will be held on Wednesday, at 1:15PM, in the Dag Hammarskjold Library Reading Room.<\/p>\n

The aim is to bring together senior leaders from Governments, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ system, parliamentarians, the private sector and civil society to share experience and learn from success stories on addressing violence against women and girls in the digital context.<\/p>\n
