BAHRAIN<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting with a trip advisory.<\/p>\n

The President of the General Assembly, Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si, will leave later today for an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.<\/p>\n

The President is visiting Bahrain and other countries in the Gulf to seek further support for the transformational changes needed to end global crises, and to assess the interlinkage of sustainability with peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n

While in Manama, President K\u0151r\u00f6si will do a cultural tour, that will include a visit to a Mosque, a Ma\u2019atam, a Hindu Temple, and the Jewish Synagogue of Manama.<\/p>\n

The President\u2019s visit comes shortly after an interfaith moment of prayer for peace at the United Nations, which was held on the last Friday of Ramadan, as Christians celebrated Easter, Jews marked the end of Passover, and Sikhs enjoyed the festival of Vaisakhi.<\/p>\n

The President will be meeting with young people during the visit. He will provide a lecture to the Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies.<\/p>\n

The President will also have discussions on the recent Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Water Conference and the pledges related to Bahrain in the context of the Water Action Agenda.<\/p>\n

The visit will also be an opportunity for the President to meet with women issues\u2019s representatives, and to discuss the advancements related to women\u2019s rights and their empowerment in the Arab nation.<\/p>\n

The list of the top officials who will receive the President, and who will meet with him are in the media advisory that I shared yesterday, in English and Arabic.<\/p>\n

Costs for the visit are covered by the Government and the OPGA Trust Fund.<\/p>\n

MORNING DIALOGUE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yesterday, President K\u0151r\u00f6si held a Morning Dialogue with a small group of Permanent Representatives on the topic of how to achieve progress on nuclear disarmament.<\/p>\n

The idea was how the international community could move beyond deep divides and focus on commonalities? And renew global cooperation in the fields of peace and security.<\/p>\n

The Morning Dialogues are held under Chatham House rules, but a summary will be circulated to Member States.<\/p>\n

WEEK AHEAD<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since the President is traveling next week and there are no formal plenaries in the General Assembly next week, I didn\u2019t prepare a Week Ahead. But on Monday, I will share an overview of May and the key events that you can expect.<\/p>\n

CREDENTIALS COMMITTEE <\/strong><\/p>\n

And before I take your new questions, I\u2019ve been getting questions related to the Credentials Committee..<\/p>\n

In terms of membership.<\/p>\n

As you know, Rule 28 of the rules of procedure provides that the General Assembly at the beginning of each session shall appoint, on the proposal of the President, a Credentials Committee consisting of nine members.<\/p>\n

For the 77th<\/sup> session, the Credentials Committee is comprised of Permanent Representatives from Angola, Austria, China, Guyana, Maldives, the Russian Federation, the United States of America, Uruguay and Zambia.<\/p>\n
