GA REVITALIZATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si this morning met with Ambassador Egriselda L\u00f3pez, Permanent Representative of El Salvador.<\/p>\n

She and Ambassador Mitch Fifield, the former Permanent Representative of Australia, led the GA revitalization process.<\/p>\n

There is a General Assembly resolution that will be taken up for action in September, as we discussed.<\/p>\n

In today\u2019s bilateral, the President and Ambassador L\u00f3pez discussed the content of the resolution and the next steps.<\/p>\n

The President has urged Member States to take action on the draft, and build on its recommendations: https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ_PGA\/status\/1688573452586717186<\/a><\/p>\n

Just prior to the meeting, President K\u0151r\u00f6si spoke by phone with Ambassador Fifield on the same topics.<\/p>\n

NUCLEAR CRANES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yesterday was the 78th<\/sup> anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.<\/p>\n

This Wednesday is the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki.<\/p>\n

You will recall that the President is marking that anniversaries by speaking out against nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n

He said on Friday that \u201cnuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. The dangers from nuclear weapons arise from their very existence. We should use our technologies and resources to create better lives; not costlier, deadlier threats.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President joined the Cranes for our Future campaign, for a world without nuclear weapons, and a future where the horrors of the past are never repeated.<\/p>\n

The Spokesperson was asked if President K\u0151r\u00f6si was following the talks in Saudi Arabia about the war in Ukraine. The Spokesperson said that the President was following the talks through media reports, as he is not involved in the talks.<\/p>\n
