President of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, to hold a Press Conference on Sustainability Week on Tuesday 9 April 2024

New York, 4 April 2024 ¨C The President of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA), H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, will hold a Press Conference on Tuesday 9 April 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, to elaborate upon and answer any questions regarding the upcoming?Sustainability Week, to be?convened?from 15-19 April 2024?under the theme ¡®Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future¡¯.

The Week will be the first?of its kind, focusing on sustainability in the key sectors of the economy: tourism, transport, infrastructure connectivity and energy, as well as debt sustainability and socio-economic equality.

The programme for the Week¡¯s activities will be as follows:

  • Monday, 15 April at 3:00 pm:?The PGA’s signature event, the High-level thematic debate on debt sustainability and socio-economic equality for all.
  • Tuesday, 16 April at 10:00 am:?High-level thematic event on tourism.
  • Wednesday, 17 April at 10:00 am:?High-level meeting on sustainable transport.
  • Thursday, 18 April at 10:00 am:?Informal dialogue on building global resilience and promoting sustainable development through infrastructure connectivity.
  • Friday, 19 April at 10:00 am: Global stocktaking marking the completion of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Decade of Sustainable Energy for All to further accelerate the implementation of SDG 7 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The PGA will start the press conference by delivering opening remarks before taking questions from correspondents. The press conference will be webcast live on Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Web TV through this .
