President of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, to hold a Press Conference on 9 September 2024, marking the end of his tenure
New York, 5 September 2024 ¨C The President of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA) for its 78th session, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, will hold a Press Conference on Monday, 9 September 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, to share appraisal on key moments of his tenure as President.
The PGA sees this as an opportunity to also express his appreciation to the media fraternity, for the collaboration which also enhanced visibility of his Presidency and the work of the United Nations at large.
He will deliver short opening remarks and present the main highlights of the 78th session of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly, including ¨C among others, but not limited to ¨C the convening of the first-ever Sustainability Week, elevating issues such as sea-level rise and youth engagement on the agenda of the General Assembly, the outcome of the 10th Emergency Special Session (Resumed), his visits overseas, including to Ukraine, South Sudan and Haiti, as well as his Advisory Boards on Gender Equality and on Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States, respectively.
