Industry Major Group.<\/p>\n<p>We will bring you more updates as they happen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>GA TO HOLD PLENARY DEBATE ON ITEM 63 \u201cUSE OF THE VETO\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Monday, 4 March, the General Assembly will hold a plenary debate on \u2018Use of the veto\u2019 \u2013 Item 63: Special report of the Security Council (<a href=\"https:\/\/eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fundocs.org%2Fen%2FA%2F78%2F786&amp;data=05%7C02%7Cserena.giglio%40un.org%7Cc06ae2ef8d8e4c7b0f9c08dc388a68f2%7C0f9e35db544f4f60bdcc5ea416e6dc70%7C0%7C0%7C638447414322746881%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=WHledAGfYDk%2FpFjsGM0D3H1pmsZ10yA6YYdhl2QkKuc%3D&amp;reserved=0\">A\/78\/786)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The debate on the use of the veto at the 9552<sup>nd<\/sup> meeting of the Security Council, held on 20 February 2024, under the agenda item \u201cThe situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question\u201d, will take place at 10 a.m. in the GA Hall and will be webcast by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵTV.<\/p>\n<p>PGA Dennis Francis will chair the plenary debate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>GA TO HOLD MEETING ON SITUATION OF Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA IN GAZA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This morning, President Dennis Francis has sent a letter to Member States informing that he will convene an informal plenary meeting of the General Assembly, on Monday, 4 March 2024 at 3 p.m. to hear a briefing from Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA).<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will take place at the GA Hall and there will be no pre-established list of speakers.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the limited time available, time limits for individual statements will be three minutes and five minutes for statements on behalf of groups.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>JUDGING PANEL APPOINTMENTS FOR THE 2024-2025 Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ SIDS PARTNERSHIPS AWARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PGA Dennis Francis has selected the members of the judging panel following the nominations received from the Co-Chairpersons of the Steering Committee, for the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ SIDS Partnerships Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The PGA\u2019s selection of members is in accordance with General Assembly resolution 76\/203 and its annex regarding the regulations governing the United Nations Small Island Developing States Partnerships Awards.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter from 20 February, Mr. Francis announced the members of the judging panel for 2024-2025 as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mr. John Gilroy<\/strong>, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations, as Chair of the panel<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ms. Kereeta Whyte<\/strong>, Deputy Permanent Representative of Barbados to the United Nations<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dr. Ibrahim Zuhuree<\/strong>, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ms. Fiona Indu<\/strong>, Deputy Permanent Representative of Solomon Islands to the United Nations<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ms. Kate Brown<\/strong>, Executive Director, Global Island Partnership (GLISPA)<\/li>\n<li>and <strong>Dr. Satesh Bidaisee<\/strong>, Professor and Associate Dean, School of Graduate Studies, St. George\u2019s University, Grenada<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, the PGA informed that <strong>Mr. Sainivalati S. Navoti<\/strong>, Chief of the SIDS Unit, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ-DESA, and <strong>Ms. Tishka Francis<\/strong>, Head of the SIDS Sub-Programme, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ-OHRLLS will act as <em>ex-officio<\/em> members on the panel.<\/p>\n<p>The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ SIDS Partnerships Awards will recognize the efforts of the best and most noteworthy, genuine, and durable partnerships in the implementation of the sustainable development priorities of Small Island Developing States.<\/p>\n<p>The award shall be presented to three partnerships in recognition of their contributions to the implementation of the sustainable development priorities of small island developing States.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is all we have for today.
