Mr. Dennis Francis, will hold a Press Conference on Tuesday 9 April 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, to elaborate upon and answer any questions regarding the upcoming\u00a0<strong>Sustainability Week,<\/strong> to be\u00a0convened\u00a0from 15-19 April 2024\u00a0under the theme <em>\u2018Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Week will be the first\u00a0of its kind, focusing on sustainability in the key sectors of the economy: tourism, transport, infrastructure connectivity and energy, as well as debt sustainability and socio-economic equality.<\/p>\n<p>The programme for the Week\u2019s activities will be as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Monday, 15 April at 3:00 pm:<\/strong>\u00a0The PGA&#8217;s signature event, the High-level thematic debate on debt sustainability and socio-economic equality for all.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tuesday, 16 April at 10:00 am:<\/strong>\u00a0High-level thematic event on tourism.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wednesday, 17 April at 10:00 am:<\/strong>\u00a0High-level meeting on sustainable transport.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thursday, 18 April at 10:00 am:\u00a0<\/strong>Informal dialogue on building global resilience and promoting sustainable development through infrastructure connectivity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Friday, 19 April at 10:00 am:<\/strong> Global stocktaking marking the completion of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Decade of Sustainable Energy for All to further accelerate the implementation of SDG 7 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The PGA will start the press conference by delivering opening remarks before taking questions from correspondents. He also will underline the need to address the emergence of synthetic drugs, such as fentanyl, and the societal impacts of this ever-growing crisis.<\/p><p>While in Vienna, the PGA will hold separate bilateral meetings with H.E. Mr. Alexander Schallenberg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria; and H.E. Mr. Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the National Council of Austria.<\/p><p>Furthermore, he will also hold separate meetings with H.E. Mr. Philbert Abaka Johnson, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Ghana to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOV, Chair of the 67<sup>th<\/sup> session of the CND; H.E. Mr. Ivo \u0160ramek, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Czechia to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOV, Chair of the 33<sup>rd<\/sup> session of the CCPCJ; Ms. Ghada Waly, Director-General of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOV and Executive Director of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵODC; Mr. Gerd Mueller, Director General of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵIDO; and Mr. Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of CTBTO.<\/p><p>The PGA will also use the opportunity of his visit to deliver a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, the oldest of its kind in the world, to engage academia and civil society on the work of the United Nations and the General Assembly.<\/p><p>The PGA\u2019s delegation to Vienna includes his Deputy Chef de Cabinet, a Senior Political Affairs Adviser as well as a Communications Adviser.<\/p><p>From Vienna, the President of the General Assembly will travel to <strong>Baku<\/strong>, Azerbaijan, to attend the 11<sup>th<\/sup> Global Baku Forum from 15 to 16 March 2024.<\/p><p>The PGA will deliver a special address on the Forum\u2019s theme \u2018<em>Fixing a Fractured World\u2019<\/em>, emphasizing the need for unity, solidarity, dialogue, and diplomacy to address ongoing geopolitical tensions; and with a view to restore the multilateral system as well as international cooperation.<\/p><p>He will also participate in a panel discussion on the objectives that can be set for the 2024 Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Climate Change Conference <strong>(Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵFCCC, COP29)<\/strong> to be held in Baku at the end of 2024.<\/p><p>During his official visit to Azerbaijan, the PGA will pay a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan; and also hold bilateral meetings with H.E. Mrs. Sahiba Gafarova, Chair of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E.
