Delivered]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Excellencies,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I extend my gratitude for the Permanent Mission of Nepal and the Mithila Centre, USA, for organizing this event \u2013 and for the kind invitation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Art can be a powerful catalyst for social progress \u2013 especially in times of uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Over millennia, it has inspired individuals to deeply reflect on their conditions, confront challenges more urgently, and aspire more earnestly for a better future.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At this critical moment in our history \u2013 as we grapple with multifaceted crises and strive to meet our SDGs and Climate Action ambitions, among others \u2013 the inspirational power of art is more essential than ever.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s exhibition showcases the rich cultural heritage of Mithila \u2013 aligning specifically with the SDGs, with a particular focus on SDG13: Climate Action.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The displayed artworks reflect our collective aspiration for harmony between humanity and nature \u2013 and aim to propel global efforts towards a cleaner, greener, and sustainable world for all, everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Art resonates universally, bridging diverse backgrounds \u2013 and transcending linguistic and geographical barriers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This sense of connection, and consequently a feeling of collective responsibility to one another, is crucial as we confront especially the climate crisis \u2013 one of the greatest global challenges of our time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dear Friends,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The facts are clear, and the trajectory we are on is undeniable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Last month was the hottest June on record.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The devastation experienced in my own region at the hands of Hurricane Beryl \u2013 because of climate change \u2013 is a resounding sad reminder of the gravity of the threat we confront.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Decisive collective action at a global scale is needed more than ever.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, considering the disproportionate impact of climate change on women, the tradition of women\u2019s craftsmanship in Mithila Art is particularly poignant.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It not only draws attention to the gendered impacts \u2013 but also celebrates women&#8217;s ingenuity, resilience, and their crucial role in climate action.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As we strive to keep the global temperature increase within 1.5 degrees Celsius and achieve the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, let this exhibition resonate with audiences worldwide and inspire widespread actions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Together, let us draw on the transformative power of Mithila Art to forge ahead towards peace, prosperity, progress, and sustainability for all.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I thank you.<\/p>\n<p
