_module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section av-lfjli645-7548cebff7cc490fb60a11d5235118f2 \">\n<div class=\"avia_textblock\">\n<h3><strong>What is the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Summit of the Future?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/common-agenda\/summit-of-the-future\"><strong>The Summit of the Future<\/strong><\/a>: multilateral solutions for a better tomorrow<\/em> will be hosted by the United Nations General Assembly (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵGA) on 22-23 September 2024.\u00a0 The goal is to agree on a concise, action-orientated Outcome Document (\u201cA Pact for the Future\u201d) in advance by consensus through intergovernmental negotiations and endorsed by Heads of State\/Government at the Summit.<\/p>\n<p>With Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵGA-<a href=\"https:\/\/documents-dds-ny.un.org\/doc\/Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵDOC\/GEN\/N22\/587\/47\/PDF\/N2258747.pdf?OpenElement\"><strong>resolution<\/strong><\/a> adopted on 8 September 2022 setting out the modalities for the Summit of the Future, further planning is to take place at the HLPF this July and the SDG Summit in September 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section av-qzbhqp-ac69a0c259635cd5ed6d20e0b46fb883 \">\n<div class=\"avia_textblock\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/summit-of-the-future\/about\">about &#8211; what is the Summit &#8211; SOF | United Nations<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scope of the Summit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The General Assembly, reaffirming the Charter of the United Nations, and recalling its resolution 76\/307 of 8 September 2022 on the modalities of the Summit of the Future, in which it decided that the Summit of the Future would adopt a concise, action-oriented outcome document entitled \u201cA Pact for the Future\u201d, agreed in advance by consensus through intergovernmental negotiations. <a href=\"https:\/\/documents.un.org\/doc\/undoc\/ltd\/n23\/252\/95\/pdf\/n2325295.pdf?token=vgsfhr3KqmvKUEEVSH&amp;fe=true\">View PDF Here (A\/77\/L.109)<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The <strong>aim of the Summit<\/strong> is twofold:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"underline-links bottommargin-sm\">\n<li>accelerate efforts to meet our existing international commitments, and<\/li>\n<li>take concrete steps to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"bottommargin-sm\">This will be achieved through an action-oriented outcome document called the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/summit-of-the-future\/pact-for-the-future-revisions\">\u00a0<strong>Pact for the Future<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bottommargin-sm\">The Pact will be negotiated and endorsed by countries in the lead-up to and during the <strong>Summit in September 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bottommargin-sm\">The result will be a world \u2013 and an international system \u2013 that is better prepared to manage the challenges we face now and, in the future, for the sake of all humanity and for future generations.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=&#8221;Program&#8221; It marked the beginning of a new phase of accelerated progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals with high-level political guidance on transformative and accelerated actions leading up to 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Convened by the President of the General Assembly, the Summit marked the half-way point to the deadline set for achieving the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. It was the centerpiece of the High-level Week of the General Assembly. Among others, COVID-19, conflicts, geopolitical tensions, and humanitarian crises in various parts of the world have posed severe challenges to these efforts and derailed implementation of the SDGs by 2030.
