Philemon Yang<\/strong><\/p>\n Meeting with Group of Francophone Permanent Representative \u201cLa Francophonie\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n December 4, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n CR 12- Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ HQS<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Excellencies,<\/p>\n Ladies and gentlemen,<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I begin by warmly thanking His Excellency Z\u00e9non Mukongo, Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in his capacity as President of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors of La Francophonie, and Her Excellency Ifigeneia Kontoleontos, Permanent Observer of the International Organisation of la Francophonie, for kindly inviting me to this event.<\/p>\n French is spoken by over 321 million people worldwide, making it a truly global language.<\/p>\n Within the United Nations, it holds a unique position as one of the six official languages and one of the two working languages of our Organization.<\/p>\n This broad representation underscores the critical role of the French language in advancing multilateralism.<\/p>\n I also would like to applaud the vital work of La Francophonie in promoting the French language.<\/p>\n Moreover, I praise its efforts to foster cultural and linguistic diversity;
