At General Assembly, Member States strive to enhance global governance of artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity<\/strong><\/p>\n

The world must respond in an agile manner to the rapidly changing digital landscape: risks in artificial intelligence are proliferating and approximately 2.7 billion people lack access to the opportunities that the internet offers.<\/p>\n

The Global Digital Compact<\/a>, adopted as an annex to\u00a0the Pact for the Future<\/a>\u00a0in September 2024, is an opportunity to advance global governance of artificial intelligence and create a safe and inclusive future for all.<\/p>\n

Following the adoption of the Compact, the President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Philemon Yang, appointed the Permanent Representative of Costa Rica to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, H.E. Ms. Maritza Chan Valverde and the Permanent Representative of Spain to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, H.E. Mr. H\u00e9ctor Jos\u00e9 G\u00f3mez Hern\u00e1ndez as co-facilitators to identify the terms of reference and modalities for the establishment and functioning of the Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence and the Global Dialogue on AI Governance.
