Excellencies,<\/p>\n

Distinguished Delegates,<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I warmly congratulate Her Excellency Annalena Baerbock on her election as the next President of the United Nations General Assembly.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is fitting that, in this milestone 80th year of the General Assembly, leadership should fall to someone whose career has been defined by an unwavering commitment to multilateralism.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ms Baerbock served as the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany during one of the most turbulent periods in recent memory.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Her experience at the helm of diplomacy amidst global uncertainty will serve this Assembly well.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I take this opportunity to commend her compelling vision: Better Together.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For no nation alone can confront the shared trials of our time. The challenges of our time are enormous.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Her pledge to serve as an honest broker\u2014to listen, to build trust, and to foster dialogue across different divides\u2014is precisely what this Assembly needs.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Her priorities align powerfully with the aspirations of our global community.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I pledge my full support to the President-elect in the weeks ahead and I hope you will do the same.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I look forward to working with her team to prepare the ground for a session that delivers on its promise.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
