Readout\u00a0of the President of the General Assembly\u2019s Meeting with H.E. Mr. <\/strong>Sangjin Kim<\/strong>,\u00a0Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations\u00a0and President of the United Nations Security Council\u00a0[September 2025]<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Philemon Yang, met H.E. Mr. Sangjin Kim,\u00a0Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations on 29 August 2025.<\/p>\n

The President of the General Assembly and the Permanent Representative discussed the programme of work for the Republic of Korea\u2019s upcoming Presidency of the United Nations Security Council, which begins on 1 September 2025. The Permanent Representative highlighted the mandated meetings of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Security Council taking place in September. He further noted that there would be an Open Debate on the Future of Peace Operations, which would consider key issues, opportunities and challenges in the context of the review on the future of all Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ peace operations, as well as Open Debate on Artificial Intelligence and International Peace and Security.<\/p>\n

The President of the General Assembly and the Permanent Representative agreed on the importance of addressing ongoing conflicts and continuing dialogues to achieve peace and security.<\/p>\n
