The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Ms. Annalena Baerbock, met with H.E. Mr. Abukar Dahir Osman, Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the United Nations, in his capacity as the incoming President of the United Nations Security Council for the month of January on 18 December 2025.
The President of the General Assembly and the incoming President of the Security Council discussed the programme of work for Somalia¡¯s Presidency of the United Nations Security Council, which will begin on 1 January 2026, including the important focus on rule of law. They further discussed the?process for the selection of the next Secretary-General of the United Nations.
