The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Ms. Annalena Baerbock, met with H.E. Ms. Leonor Zalabata Torres, Permanent Representative of Colombia to the United Nations, in her capacity as the incoming President of the United Nations Security Council for the month of June on 28 May 2026.
The President of the General Assembly and the incoming President of the Security Council discussed the programme of work for Colombia¡¯s Presidency of the United Nations Security Council, which will begin on 1 June 2026.
They highlighted the importance of the Women, Peace and Security agenda as well as addressing the climate crisis. They further discussed the importance of strengthening the cooperation between the Security Council and the General Assembly, including in the context of the selection and appointment process of the next Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Secretary General.
