Ms. Annalena Baerbock, will convene the fifth interactive dialogue with candidates for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations in which they outline their vision for the United Nations and answer Member State and civil society questions about their leadership experience and qualifications, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ reform and the three pillars of the United Nations \u2013 peace and security, development and human rights. Since the first round of interactive dialogues in April 2026, one additional candidate, Ms. Mar\u00eda Fernanda Espinosa Garc\u00e9s, has been nominated as candidate for the position of Secretary-General.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">During the three-hour dialogue, the candidate will be invited to present an opening statement of up to 10 minutes which will be followed by questions from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Member States and civil society representatives to further explore their leadership skills and experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The interactive dialogues are a crucial component of the selection process. \u201cThe selection of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ\u2019s next leader has far-reaching implications well beyond the halls of the United Nations. Candidates will present their vision at the opening of the dialogue. The opening statement will be followed by questions from Member States and civil society. To enhance the interactive nature of the dialogues, Member States are encouraged to ask short and focused questions. In addition, time limits apply to the speakers. Interactive Dialogues will be structured in a way that allows Member States and civil society to address the most pressing issues the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ faces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The interactive exchange will follow two thematic segments:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">1) Proven leadership abilities, experience and skills of the candidates for a strong and fit-for-the-future organization; and<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">2) The three pillars of the United Nations: peace and security, development, and human rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The format of the interactive dialogue on 15 June 2026 follows the modalities of the earlier interactive dialogues to provide equal opportunities to all candidates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><strong><u>In Person Press Attendance<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">For members of the press who would like to attend the interactive dialogues in person, a limited number of tickets \u2013 due to capacity limitations in the room \u2013 will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from MALU.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Press will be required to show the ticket to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Department of Safety and Security officers at the third-floor entrance of the Trusteeship Council Chamber for entry.
