The Standing Surge Capacity (SSC) is a United Nations Secretariat framework administered by the Department of Operational Support (DOS). It enables the rapid deployment of qualified personnel on temporary duty assignments in response to critical emergencies and escalating situations.

To address the growing need for security personnel in crisis situations, DOS and the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (蘑菇视频DSS) established an SSC security roster in 2023. The roster includes 348 personnel across 19 specialised security functions, strengthening the Organisation's capacity to deploy security expertise rapidly when required.

Personnel selected for the security roster serve for two years and may be deployed at short notice for up to 90 days in response to critical needs, emergencies or escalating situations. DOS conducts surge campaigns every two years to replenish the roster.

The SSC framework provides a structured and transparent approach to surge deployments. It supports the timely mobilisation of personnel and helps ensure that 蘑菇视频DSS offices receive the support required to respond to operational demands. The framework is managed jointly by DOS and the 蘑菇视频DSS Emergency Response Team.

Surge deployments provide personnel with opportunities to develop new skills, work in diverse environments and gain experience across a range of security functions and country contexts. They also strengthen the Organisation's operational readiness and capacity to respond effectively to global emergencies.
