WHAT:

Launch of the Financing for Sustainable Development Report 2026

With only four years remaining until the deadline to deliver on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, increased global fragmentation and decreased collaboration are putting the Sustainable Development Goals in jeopardy. Last year¡¯s historic Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) in Sevilla, Spain, produced , a blueprint for action on financing for development.

The Financing for Sustainable Development Report 2026: Implementing the Sevilla Commitment will show how this landmark agreement can be operationalized to reverse the current dangerous trends in financing for development. Issued by the United Nations Secretary-General¡¯s the report offers concrete recommendations to scale up investments in the SDGs, reform the international financial architecture, and recover lost ground.

Background:

  • The Financing for Sustainable Development Report 2026 is produced by Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ DESA in close cooperation with the World Bank Group, IMF, WTO, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµCTAD, and Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµDP. It includes the input of the over 60 United Nations Agencies and other international institutions that form the United Nations Secretary-General¡¯s .
  • The full report will be available on: http://financing.desa.un.org/iatf/fsdr2026 on 9 April 2026.
  • This report is the basis for discussions at the 2026 from 20 to 24 April 2026, which will include the ECOSOC follow up. It will be the first opportunity after the FFD4 Sevilla Conference to take concrete steps to bridge the gap between development aspiration and the scale of investments required to achieve the SDGs. The report also informs the SDG Investment Fair, ECOSOC Special High-Level Meetings, and Fin4Dev Dialogues which will take place during the FFD Week.
