Through?the Pact for the Future, governments have recommitted to building peaceful,?just?and inclusive societies,?recognizing?that stronger institutions, the rule of law and inclusive governance are?the way?to a fairer world for all.??
SDG 16 in Numbers
- 140 countries now have?access-to-information?laws, up from 14 in 1990, empowering citizens to hold governments accountable for their actions.??
- Over 500 million children gained legal identities via birth registration recently, marking a vital step toward global justice and inclusion.?
- Countries with fully compliant, independent national human rights institutions increased from 70 in 2015 to 89 by 2024, strengthening oversight.?
- 190 of 193 countries have presented SDG national action plans, signaling near-universal institutional commitment to achieving the?Sustainable Development Goals.??
